This week, Czech Technical University in Prague is proudly attending NAFSA: Association of International Educators Conference 2025 in San Diego! Alongside a packed agenda of networking with current and prospective partners, we also had the pleasure of reconnecting with some truly inspiring CTU alumni with our representative Oleg Fetisov, Ph.D., MBA, head of International Office, who also graduated from the Faculty of Civil Engineering CTU in Prague in 2019.
At the Czech-Polish Reception organized by Czech National Agency for International Education and Research (Study in Czechia & Czechia Alumni) and NAWA – Polish National Agency for Academic Exchange, we met Alina Altukhova, a two-time recipient of the Visegrad Scholarship Program. Thanks to the support of the International Visegrad Fund, she completed her studies and research at the Faculty of Civil Engineering CTU in Prague that paved the way for her Ph.D. studies there. Today, Alina is also an emerging contemporary artist based in California. 🎨
We were equally honored to meet Vojtěch Novák, a graduate of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering, Czech Technical University in Prague and a successful inventor and researcher who is now contributing to cutting-edge scientific innovation in both U.S. and Czech Republic. ⚙️
A special and unexpected moment was reconnecting with I-Wen Chen, a former mobility student at the Fakulta architektury ČVUT v Praze, who was actively involved in the International Student Club (now Erasmus Student Network CTU in Prague, z. s.), helping make CTU a more inclusive and globally connected place. 🤝
These meaningful encounters are a powerful reminder of the journeys our alumni take—and the lasting bonds we share, wherever we meet in the world. 🌎💙

– “A part of me still lies in Prague!”, – these words from one of the participants beautifully captured the spirit of our first Czechia Alumni Meetup in Greece, held on June 4 at the Embassy of the Czech Republic in Athens in cooperation with Czech National Agency for International Education and Research (Study in Czechia).
The event brought together around 80 alumni, students, and partners to reconnect, share stories, and explore new opportunities. Ambassador Ivo Silhavy opened the evening with a heartfelt message on the power of alumni networks to strengthen Czech-Greek ties. Guests enjoyed Czech-style refreshments, a photo booth, and the Czech Image exhibition — alongside insights from the Czech Association Greece, Czech Compatriot Society in Athens, Hellenic Czech Chamber of Greece and Erasmus Student Network Czech Republic.
Thank you to everyone who made the evening unforgettable — and to those who helped us spread the word! We extend our sincere thanks to Bára Křenek Sobotková and Julie Ševeleva for representing the Czech Technical University in Prague so admirably at the Alumni Meetup in Athens.

Guests enjoyed traditional Czech goulash, snacks, and drinks in a warm, welcoming atmosphere.
A heartfelt thank you to Madame Ambassador Anita Grmelova for her incredible support and initiative, and to the organizing team managed by Nicole Liptakova Vallmostrand for putting together such a thoughtful and well-run event. A special thank you to Johan Pahlm, Edvin Halling, Lawrence Zawahri, Sebastian Granath, Henrik Sellén Wikström, Filip Danielsson, Lucas Hollsten, Sofie Björk for their active participation and great contributions to the discussions with our representative, Oleg Fetisov, Ph.D., MBA., Head of the International Office.
